April 9th, 2024 an hot water heater, located in the attic, burst.
We were not at home: The security alarm Co. contacted us and the local police. By the time we got home a huge amount of damage had already been done – water everywhere. Ceilings down on both the ground and 2nd floors, furniture and flooring soaked, etc.
Our Insurance Co recommended I call Kelly Stahlman, Roadrunner Restoration, (now GulfPoint Services).
Thomas Nichols arrived within several hours and assured us the Co. he represented, Roadrunner Restoration could take care of everything and we’d be back to normal in 6 weeks. As I write this 14+ months later we are still waiting…

Thomas got to work immediately.
He arranged for the book collection to be taken away to storage, got a crew to knock out the wet walls, ceilings and remove the dripping wet insulation. So much was going on we didn’t know who was in the house. About 10 people packing everything into boxes – I don’t know how many guys were ripping out wet sheet rock etc. And of course the plumbers. We replaced the 2 hot water heaters with the tankless variety.
Finally the crew got to a stage where they could dry out everything. But then we had to live with the noise of the air movers / dryers… better than having mold though.
