Items Damaged While in Roadrunner’s Care
We made it perfectly clear before Roadrunner Restoration started to pack up any books, that most items on the library shelves were antiquarian (old), valuable, and non-replaceable. The packers were very quick to get them off the shelves and placed in boxes to be taken to storage, “following protocol” we were told. This was explained to me as follows: paper is stuffed into the bottom of each box, the books are placed on top of the paper, and then paper goes on top of the books. We found this process to be adhered to for the first 100+ boxes of books only.
Because the books were not packed securely there was nothing to stop them from rattling around in the boxes as they were moved in and out of storage; particularly the boxes that contained just a few books.

I even unpacked a box containing one soft covered book. Nothing else. (see pic below)
